Chanel's Couture Collection Fall 2014

RunwaySara K

Earlier this month Chanel rocked the runway in Paris with their fall couture collection and l took a look at the western trends us Asians can wear this autumn and winter.

The Chanel show consisted of sequins, embroidery and beautifully subtle detailed frock dresses.

I'm a big fan of the finely cut jackets and tailored garments which cinch in at the waist. Oh yes, thin waist belts are back in. l do love a good waist belt, they draw in attention to the smaller part of your body if you have a smaller waist like myself. As a result, it instantly makes you look slimmer and not to mention it just gives your body more shape.

For the Chanel couture look the colours to stick to are silver and black or white and gold, a timeless contrast or why not change it up try black and white monochrome style. They are classic colours so you can’t go wrong and if you use the right patterns in combination with the colours your on to a winner (see 2nd image below).

I even spotted Asian scarf style pattern (last image above) and women wearing Pakistani style toppy. The type of toppies our uncles or grandad would wear (see 3rd image above). All you need to is buy a tippy with mirrored pieces, pin the hat to the back covering the bun and back comb the fringe at the front and WALA your Chanel trending.

For special occasions such as, Eid why not take Chanel’s couture advice and make a dress out of  a sequinned and beaded Indian or Pakistani pashmina. For instance, I brought a black and silver decorative pashmina from Green Street in London and l know it could make a stunning Chanel style dress with the black and silver beads.

If you feel you haven’t got enough fabric, you can buy two of the same dupattas and create a on trend jacket, dress or something new with eastern and western elements.

I hope you enjoy reading the magazine, as much as I loved sharing the hidden fashion gems and supporting women promoting their fashion business.
